Problem with April Beta?

Post by CMBDJ »

Tonight I attempted to run the current beta with my Martin Mini Mac Profiles and could not get any response. I then loaded the September Release and my mini macs responded correctly. Any ideas?

Hi,
Is the "physical" fixture not responding ?
Does the "DMX Info" shows DMX variation when you use the fixture on the desktop ?
Have you built or modified your own fixture library ?
I Have checked the fixture on my beta version, it seems to work (I have DMX variation on the "DMX Info" Window).
I have tried it with Lumidesk Ultimate, working on Windows Vista 32 Bit.
You could try with other fixture to see if it's only the one you told or some other fixtures. Maybe there was a mistake when loading the beta version.Have you tried to re-load the beta version ?
Let me know what you found out,

I will do a test setup here at the house and go through the trials you mentioned. It will be a few days before I have the time. Thanks for the reply. I'll follow up with my findings.

I'm testing with a different fixture, Color Splash Jr. and am having the same results. I just noticed that upon executing the Beta, the software recognizes the ultimate interface, but upon loading a show the interface dissconnect icon shows in the lower right hand corner of the UI. So I'm going to reinstall the beta and see.

I've reinstalled the April Beta, and have the same results. The lights fuction correctly on the shows loaded onto the SD card of the Ultimate V2 interface. Once the april beta loads, the interface shows PC and the power light is lit. But no other activity from the interface. The DMX values show to be changing when running a show from the program, but it's not reaching the interface.

I also connected my Ultimate v1 interface and have the exact same results. No connection to the interface once the program loads. Internal memory playback is fine.

Everything functions correctly when loading the September Release for both interfaces.

I just tested from a different computer, and the Beta functions fine. The dmx lights on the interface light up as they should when the show is loaded. So there is something that the installation on my primary computer and the interface that is not working. I've reinstalled the program, and the drivers for the interface when prompted. What else can I try?

Ok....so I figured it out. I clicked on the hardware button on the configuration tab and had to connect Universe 1 to the dmx output of the interface. No idea how or why it was disconnected. But that was the problem.

Yes that's right, I've seen that. When you install the April Beta, the universes are not connected. You have to do it once.
If you want to disconnect a DMX univer, you will be able to do it by double-click on the point line between the univers connected and the physical output.
It's nice you found out the solution of your problem.

Another thing you can also do is uploading your firmware.
Close Lumidesk software
Go in the folder installation and open the "tools.exe" (you should find it in C:/Lumideskbeta/tools.exe)
When the tool's open, go on the "Firmware" Tab.
There, you will see : your firmware version, lumidesk serial number and a button called "write the firmware on you interface" (something like that ...). it will also show the interface version, if necessary click on the upload button and wait a few seconds. The interface will show line turning around the screen during uploading.
Your interface is now update.
I'm not sure, but I think you have to unplugged the interface and to replug it. the computer will tell you "new device found", and it will look for Siudi drivers.
When done, run Lumidesk Beta and enjoy the new design of lumidesk ! :-)

Good Lighting !

Good morning. The universe patch is fixed with the new release version : http://www.lumidesk.com/download/LumiDesk.exe
The first DMX out of the first interface will be automatically affected to the first DMX Universe.

Please let me know if you have any question.
Thanks
