LumiDesk with VDJ8

Post by swazae »

I was wondering if there was any work being done to get LumiDesk to work with VDJ8? Doesn't seem like VDJ staff has any concern about adding MidiClock back into the software. I have seen that there are plugins being created by the other lighting software companies and was wondering if there was anything being done by LumiDesk?

Until midi clock gets added back in, I don't think there will be any usable option. There is one plug-in I read about, but it's a manual tap. Might as well as tap the bpm in lumidesk.

Midiclock is available in version 7 but in version 8 there are no settings for midiclock and I have even tried and nothing. If you know how to get it to work with VDJ8 please share that info.

Julian,

We're referring to Midi Clock being removed in VDJ 8. Until it's added back in, there is nothing to send bpm signal to midi clock in Lumidesk.

I am going to play devil's advocate on this issue.. I noticed under the controller section in VDJ8 there is an entry for LoopBe and I cannot do anything with that. Is there anyway to write something up to recognize the Lumidesk unit as a controller and use the following value that is available in VDJ8 - Get_beat_number In reading about this action it says it returns a beat value between 1 and 4 indicating the beat in the measure. Isn't this pretty much what loopBe is doing from midiclock?

Lumidesk is capable of getting a midi clock signal. It is VDJ8 that has to have midi clock output added.

I understand that but what happens if VDJ decides not to add midiclock back in?

If that happens, then you will simply have to use a microphone or tap option. But as many DJs are requesting midi clock on the VDJ boards I think they will have to add it back in at some point.
