Ultimate universal remote control

Hi All
does anyone have any preferances on which universal remote control is best for use with the Lumidesk Ultimate ?
I would apreciate all input in this as I dont want to end up buying a few controllers !
How many buttons are needed to controll the Ultimate using IR ?
